banglore-logoThe National Law School of India University (NLSIU) is one of the best institutions for undergraduate and graduate law education in India. It was the first ever National Law University to be established in India. It is known as the “Harvard of the east”. The National Law School of India University was established by a statute passed by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Karnataka. NLSIU was the first institute in India to offer a pioneering 5 year intensive course in social sciences and law. It is the only Law School sponsored by the Bar Council of India with a view to raising the standard of legal education in India.It was Ranked 2nd in Law Category as per The India Today in 2008.

Year of Foundation:

In 1987, NLSIU was established under the stewardship of its founder, then Vice-Chancellor N.R. Madhava Menon.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidate must have passed 10+2 examination or its equivalent with minimum 45% marks and 40% marks in case of SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities
  • Final year students can also apply for CLAT
  • Candidate must have qualified CLAT
  • For LLM: LL.B or equivalent degree in law examination with a minimum of 55% marks and 50% marks for SC/ST and then they are eligible for CLAT PG
